Allocation Models for Patrol and Investigations (Coming in 2008)

Allocation Model for Police Patrol

The Allocation Model for Police Patrol (AMPP) employs an Excel© worksheet to calculate a projected total of officers needed by the department for efficient patrol operations. This is done by considering 28 variables. Thirteen of these variables are dictated by the department's objectives and policies; for example, the desired response time the department wishes to achieve. The number arrived at is a defensible number based on a logical process and careful analysis.

Allocation Model for Criminal Investigations

Similar to AMPP, the Allocation Model for Criminal Investigations (AMCI) employs an Excel© worksheet to calculate the projected number of investigators needed to support the criminal investigation function of the department. It too takes into consideration desired objectives and a number of variables including case load. Traditionally, adequate investigative staffing has often been a mystery. AMCI helps solve the mystery, using astute analysis of department needs, tasks, and goals.

Departments will have the option to use AMPP and AMCI to "war-game" more than one scenario and thus develop allocation models keyed to a variety of deployment strategies and policies.

The allocation package will also include an option for submitting a PowerPoint©-based report to City Council in support of recommended police department organizational change.

Purchase of the AMPP/AMCI package includes a department-wide license of the software and user guide. Pricing will be tiered to department size and options desired beyond the basic allocation package.
