Based on the results of the job analysis as well as a discussion with your agency personnel, the Justex staff recommends the most comprehensive, current, and appropriate textbooks for consideration as exam sources. You may also include department policy and procedure manuals, rules and regulations, and city ordinances. A list of suitable Justex-approved sources is located on this website. Generally, sources can be used up to three years, assuming one promotion examination per year.

Obtaining Review Copies of Textbooks
Justex has copies of each book on its reading list and makes copies available on loan to administrators making source selection decisions. There is nothing quite like having the actual book in hand when deciding on sources. This also saves the department the expense of purchasing a book which may not ultimately be used on the test.
